Cancellation of JAMD & Attendance Information

Parents/Guardians,

With the recent recommendations from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH), the Floodwood School District has cancelled JAMD, a band fundraising event, that was scheduled for March 20th.

At this time, through guidance with CDC, MDH does NOT recommend that K-12 schools close unless specifically advised to do so by health officials. Floodwood School District is following the recommendations of MDH.

We also ask parents and guardians to call or email when their student is absent, and provide us with more details so we can track influenza-like symptoms. Please tell us if your child has a fever over 100 degrees, if they have a cough, if they have a sore throat, etc.

If you are keeping your child home for the sole reason of isolation of COVID-19, please let us know that as well. It will be treated as an excused absence, however the students need to make a plan to gather missing assignments.

Please help us by not sending your child to school sick, such as a fever of over 100F and keep them home until they are fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication. If they seem too sluggish or lethargic to pay attention in class, rest at home will help them recover faster. If your child is contagious with an illness such as strep throat or stomach flu, please keep them home until symptoms have subsided for at least 24 hours.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Have a great weekend!
