Letter from Superintendent/Principal

Dear Parents:

On Tuesday, October 23rd at 10:15 a.m., there will be a presentation by the Historical Society. The topic of the presentation is the Fire of 1918. Students in grades 5-12 will be attending as well as any community members who would like to attend.

The students will have a nice break beginning on Thursday, October 18th and ending on Monday, October 22nd. MEA will be Thursday and Friday and the teachers have Multi-District Day on Monday in Grand Rapids. The teachers will be listening to Dylan William who will be talking about using assessments to increase teacher effectiveness. This fits in with how the teachers are working to improve their instruction.

The end of the first quarter is November 2nd. Conferences will be scheduled for the elementary and high school students for November 13th and 15th with no school on November 16th. Watch for the K-12 conference invitations to go home in a week or so.

There was a great turnout to the Family Fun Night sponsored by the Polar Pride team. Our next Polar Pride meeting will be at 7:45 a.m. on October 24th.  You are invited to participate. The meetings are held in my office.

The Elementary Volleyball program ended this week. The parent and community volunteers are appreciated. We would not have the elementary programs without volunteers.

The Football team will be playing in their last regular season game tonight against Lake of the Woods. The Volleyball team defeated Northeast Range on Tuesday night. Playoffs will begin next week.

What a great time everyone seemed to have at the Tailgate Party last week! We plan on doing a similar event during the basketball season.

Another informational meeting regarding the operating referendum is planned for November 1st at 6 p.m. in the Media Center. Plan on attending if you have questions or want to learn more. You are also welcome to call me at (701) 278-1599 or the school at (218) 476-2285 ext. 70102.

Sincerely,

Dr. Rae Villebrun
