Letter from Superintendent/Principal

Dear Parents:

Second semester will begin on January 22nd. High School report cards will be available to download from Infinite Campus beginning February 4th. Students receiving Incompletes or failing grades will have their report card mailed home. All elementary report cards will be sent home with the students.

The staff member highlighted in this letter is Ms. Davidson. Her title is Media Specialist, but she does so much more than work with books in the library. Ms. Davidson is responsible for keeping track of all the technology in the district. She knows who has which Chromebook, computer, and iPad. She is the problem solver of technology when Mr. Baker, technology technician, is not in the building. Ms. Davidson finds resources for teachers and students. She finds presenters and authors so that students have live experiences. Ms. Davidson teaches a time and money management class to the 7-9th graders. She teaches media and technology to the K-6th graders. She will be teaching an elective to the 9th-12th grade students. She also teaches an intervention group. The Media Center is also a space for students who have online classes to complete their work. Ms. Davidson has a full day with students. I realize that there could be an impression that Ms. Davidson is alone working with books, but that would be an inaccurate impression. Without her, we would have two less electives for our 7th-12th grade students.

The next school board meeting will be January 28th at 6:00 p.m. in the Media Center. Our next working session is scheduled for Monday, February 11th at 6:00 p.m.

As a celebration of making good choices, the staff has planned activities for the elementary and the high school students who have three or less minor Office Discipline Referrals (ODR) or one or less major Office Discipline Referrals (ODR).

Please mark your calendar for our very special celebration, our designation as a Minnesota School of Excellence, on Monday, February 4th from 1:30 to 2:30! We will have guest speakers, food, singing, dancing, and a performance by the band. We are excited for this day and look forward to you being part of the students’ special day.

We have a lot to celebrate!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rae Villebrun
