A message from the transportation director:

Welcome to the 2019-20 school year!

I want each and every student who rides the bus to school to have a safe and orderly ride, each day. You can help your child have a great start by talking to them about appropriate behavior at the bus stop. It is important for parents to know that school supervision of (and responsibility for) students begin when students board the school bus—not while they are waiting at the bus stop. Inappropriate or unsafe behavior could result in the loss of this privilege. Minnesota state law states that transportation by school bus is a privilege, not a right.

I’d like to inform parents and students of the in-town busing changes. The buses will only be stopping at the homes of 3 and 4 year olds, and students that need assistance in transportation this year. There will be only one bus stop for those on the school side of Hwy 2, if they shall need/want to ride the bus. This will be at the grocery store. Students are encouraged to walk to school.

I would like to remind everyone of is the importance of contacting me directly with any daily or ongoing busing changes. Call or text me at 763-286-6835 or email me at jlarson@isd698.org or transportation@isd698.org. I will contact the teacher with the result of the change. Please do not contact the teacher or Deb at the front office with any changes.

Below are a few more expectations that I would like you to read and discuss with your child.

I am looking forward to a safe and enjoyable school year together!

(refer to entire Student Transportation Safety Policy 709 on the district website)

Transportation by school bus is a privilege and not a right. Students must conform to School District policies regarding student conduct and safety while on the bus. The bus driver is the ultimate authority on the school bus.

Consequences for school bus/bus stop misconduct will be imposed by the school district under adopted administrative discipline procedures. In addition, all school bus/bus stop misconduct will be reported to the school district’s transportation safety director. Serious misconduct may be reported to local law enforcement.

School Bus and Bus Stop Rules. The school district school bus safety rules are to be posted on every bus. If these rules are broken, the school district’s discipline procedures are to be followed. In most circumstances, consequences are progressive and may include suspension of bus privileges. It is the school bus driver’s responsibility to report unacceptable behavior to the school district’s Transportation Office/School Office.
