Letter from Superintendent/Principal Rae Villebrun

Dear Families:

Governor Walz has ordered schools to continue with distance learning until the end of the school year.  Part of this new order is taking May 1st and May 4th as planning days for staff. This means on May 1st and May 4th, teachers will be planning for the remainder of the year and students will not have assignments on these days.

All activities scheduled for the remainder of the year have been canceled including, prom, spring sports, annual sports banquet, and the academic awards ceremony. At this point, we don’t have a plan for the 2020 Commencement. However, as soon as we know, the information will be shared with you. If you have ideas of how we might recognize and celebrate the Class of 2020, please email attendance@isd698.org.

The teachers, staff members, and I are sad that we are ending the school year through distance learning. In the best interest of our students, community, and staff, we know this is what will help keep everyone healthy and safe. We look forward to the 2020-2021 school year.

The delivery of meals will continue until the end of the school year. Child care for essential workers will also continue until the end of the school year.

Homework will be delivered on April 28th, May 12th and May 26th. Most teachers are not asking for assignments to be sent in, but to take a picture and email it. However, if an assignment needs to be picked up, it can be sent back to school through the meal delivery or let your child’s teacher know so we can arrange for it to be picked up. There is also a tote at the south entrance where assignments can be returned.

If you are struggling with helping your child or need something, please be sure to let us know. We are here to help.

Stay safe and be well!

Sincerely,

Dr. Rae Villebrun
